Help identify - woman carrying monkey

Postby APO » Sat May 12, 2018 9:53 am

Hi,

I have a two Netsuke (or NLOs) given to me by my father in law some time ago. He's had them for 40 or so years (in France). They don't seem to be plastic or resin. I've attached photos of the first one - a person carrying a monkey. It has a signature. Pics attached. Will post the second one separately.

Height: 7cm

Any information on them, and confirmation that they're NLOs or Netsuke greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan

Hello, Alan. It sounds like you've already read the standard Moderator reply for NLOs and your suspician has been confirmed. Some people would consider items from four or five decades ago to be pretty old but we still consider these modern NLOs. Sorry for the disappointment but you can keep them as mementos. Others you posted may not appear here if they are also netsuke-like carvings.
Alan
