Inro Label Translation

Postby calbear » Sat Dec 31, 2016 8:36 pm

This is a label on an interior case of a 17th century inro ... I'm not sure if it is an old collector's label (which were sometimes coded and 'untranslatable') or price tag or something less obvious .... Any thoughts/assistance would be appreciated ....

And best wishes for a Happy New Year!

Here's the inro itself - Stag, Doe, and Kiku .... approximately 1600, with gold and mother of pearl accents ....

Another good acquisition Steve. Very few losses to the MOP. Do you think it has any restoration? I dont know. Just wondering.

I believe the label is properly translated as "You lucky dog!"

(sorry I can't be of more scholarly help, but I do admire the piece) :-)

Alan, no restoration that I can see ...

As for the label, I see a "3" and a "7" but my translation skills are seriously lacking ... Any other thoughts? ....

Thanks ...
