Where to buy inro cord

Postby lohrberg » Wed Oct 19, 2016 10:40 am

We had this topic already in the old Forum. Where to buy himo for inro and sagemono in general. After consulting the question with my friend Shimatani, we went to a specialised shop. It is located 5 minutes walking time from the Kaminarimon Gate in Akasaka/Tokyo.

MACHIDA ITO-TEN CO., LTD
1-1. Komagata 1 -Chome,
Taito-ku, Tokyo 111-0043 JAPAN
Tel: 03-3844-2172
Fax: 03-3844-1372
E-mail: info@machida-ito.co.jp

They offer all kinds of cords from very thin to larger and thick.
They have real silk and other materials, one, which is called Sinylon.
And what is most important they offer all kinds of colours. The colours carry a number or figure. Some of the cords are available in 80 (!) different colours.
Prices for real silk are high - 6000 Yen for 15 meters
Prices for the non silk (Sinylon) are low - 160 Yen for 5 meters

This shop with the friendly english speaking staff seems to be the Himo Heaven for all collectors,

Reinhard

US $58 sounds pretty fair for 15 meters of silk as I recall paying $60 for only 5 yards a few years ago.
Thanks for this resource, Rheinhardt.
