Bonhams Fine Japanese Art auction at Nov.10

Postby szwang » Fri Oct 14, 2016 9:16 pm

Fine Japanese art auction at Nov.10, composed of many fine Inro and even more netsukes. Some of highlights are: Dragon of Yoshimasa, dog by Yoshinaga, Shoki by Tokoku, Shishi by Gechu (?) and several Nagoya/Ise/Gifu fine animals.

Quite a lot of fine things to consider, especially with November 8, and LarkMason coming up as well.
I'm almost glad I can only look at the Bonham's ivories.

I am rather disappointed with the Bonham's' netsuke choices this time. Most ivory ones are rather modest quality copies of well known pieces. Not the Bond street material at all in my opinion. :(

And if this is by Gechu, he is not my favorite carver any more! :o

Agreed, and that's why if you see my "(?)" after Gechu :D I feel it's alright thought in terms of a regular not-by-Gechu shishi, It's just Bonham's description is somewhat vague suggesting it is a real piece, but dare not directly saying it.
