A superb collection but pricey.
I shall go up to Bonhams on one of their viewing days to examine each little beauty and will report back here.

A fabulous & famous collection has been long-awaited by many ...

As usual, Bonham's have put low estimates on most of the lots. I presume the auction house will provide CITES documentation (except USA). My favourite piece is in part 2 of the sale next year. There seems to be good pickings for all budgets.

Some pre-sale research & at least a couple of hours handling in person would be of immense educational value. The famous shaggy Gechu Dog is a must see ... please don't drop this GBP 100K piece !

It would be appropriate if Bonham's played some Brahms Piano concerto by JK as a background to these viewings.

Funny Bonhams do not give an estimate on Gechu's dog, anyway a fantastic collection with good pictures and general descriptions

The shaggy Gechu Dog is IMHO on the very short list (my list) of absolutely greatest ever!! Mortgage the house, sell the farm, rob a few banks - whatever it takes!

Estimates are LOW and prices will zoom past in mini-seconds on the worthy
ones. There's some extraordinary pieces in this historic auction. Lots of good tales around this fabled collection too. Historic stuff here!

I'm looking forward to hearing which ones you mean......after the auction, no doubt. [None that I'll be bidding on.]

I know that I am new to the arena of Netsuke but I'm not new to auctions. IMHO the buyers premium, VAT, and CC surcharges are astronomical when trying to add to a modest collection. If added correctly it more than doubles one's bid??

Agree with David. This collection will attract all kinds of investors, and quite a few pieces will cross the 5-figure barrier. I hope Gopi gets a couple and shows us all how it's done! ;)

I hope everyone won't hate me for this but I have appreciated the Gechu dog and pup for 4 decades but never lusted after it the way some seem to. The face for me is just goofy and all those heavy curls with some at nearly 90 degree angles to the rest seem to form some design rather than looking like natural fur.

Some of the Mitsuhiro pieces made me appreciate this artist more than I have in the past.
