Interesting Gopi - it sounds like you are suggesting we all hold back, and wait instead.

Unrelated to the catalogues content - I wanted to make a quick reference to Bonhams choice of design. I don't think it was coincidental that the cover appears aimed to appeal to the touch, rather than the eye. Don't get me wrong - I actually really like the simple clean visual aspect of the catalogue too - but the tactile nature of the high quality cover is really thinking outside the box in marketing target terms.

Congratulations on a pleasing design Bonhams :D

Speaking of pleasing design, isn't the logo for the London conference perhaps based on lot 97 in the Bonham's sale? Either a remarkable coincidence or a bit of brilliance for which somebody should take a bow.

That's the one I told Piers about in another topic. Having no previous experience with such material I thought it might be a less expensive Zeshin piece. Guess I don't know much about powder flasks created by famous and desirable artists.

Yes Laquer-Objects from Zeshin are something special. Sadly also somehow unaffordable.

Besides of the mantis and the imitated metal, i really like the round shapes of the powderhorn. What cheers me up an little, in a parallel universe, my other me is purchasing it.

No successful bidders here?
I guess everyone spent their savings at the convention.

I was lucky to win Lot 269. I've been wanting it for sometime and finally decided to go for it. Now I just need another lifetime to read and inwardly digest. (it arrived today).
