Wow John! That is even more ludicrous packing than Amazon which is way oversized as well. You must have had to look and look before you found that little guy!
I like him very much by the way. His face is somewhat reminiscent of the old rat catchers I have seen- perhaps same school or carver? He is certainly a nice find, and a great addition to your collection...congratulations!

This is a great little netsuke. I handled him at VH. I thought the material most likely marine as it goes. Considered bidding on him - but we can't win them all. Nice one :)

Correct Martyn he is carved from marine ivory - wonder if he could play a rendition of the Beatles I am the walrus?
