Hi Floridanetsuke,
The kanji reads Masatsugu, but there are several who carved under this name, using different kanji. More research will be needed on your part to figure out which one it is, or if it might even be a later carver. It is a sweet little carving.

Hi Leonard, about the photo rotation. After you take your shots, push the edit button and alter the photo in any way that you like, and then push 'Done'. This will fix the orientation for you so it comes out straight on the website. :)

Oh, and generally I agree with Judy, but as she says, those photos may not be telling the whole story about its age etc.

Size is something.

Piers, that method doesn't seem to work on my phone so i have to take screenshots of pics to get them to appear upright (if I remember to do that before I attach them).

I just tried to rotate them, and could not do it. They seem to have been taken with an iPhone, and not edited before sending, so they are long and narrow images. Don't know if that affects them or not.

I feel like the signature and carving style is like my avatar carved by the Masastugu from the late 19C. This masastugu tends to make the subjects gender neutral. Also carves sweet faces.
