Thanks for finding the link Doug - and signed Tametaka at that!

I've just called the website customer support. They do confirm it's the London Science Museum. But they say it could just be a digital image the museum owns, as opposed to the actual object.

I'll write to the science museum. I've never seen netsuke in there, but that deserves to have proper photos taken all round.

Well I never - they have over 200 netsuke, categorised under Oriental Medicine.

I've now got a better picture of the Tametaka netsuke. Enjoy.

And look - we no longer need to study the earlier example with a great big GETTY IMAGES obscuring the work. And totally coincidentally, on the same day we discussed it, we also found out it's home :D

(Also looks like they have a Jobun) - I feel an early 2018 handling session coming on ;)

Many thanks for all the information about this netsuke and the pictures of other examples, I have tried to improve my photography using my Nokia 5 phone and have added one picture that I hope is better ?

Martyn,

Literally the last place you would expect to find a collection of netsuke is the Science Museum, well done an amazing discovery!

Victor, while handheld photos give some size reference, you may notice the phone camera picks up your fingers behind the netsuke for the focal point.
