Thanks for digging that out Klaus!

I thought Fuld refers to a group of three as a whole (denoted by a comma) , rather than an adult and a group of three infants.

Monkey, Young, Group of 3-, Seated

Still if that is the same reference Fuld refers to () , then it answers that question. Coincidentally the piece from Katchen is also 4.2cm.

I did not find my monkey troupe in Fuld's. There are 4 monkeys and it's 3 cm all around.

I do see a lot of similarities to Klaus's monkeys with the octopus. Which Ikkosai do you attribute your netsuke to Klaus?

Jill, as noted in the previous post, I would assign my ape group and my Ojime to the Tokyo Ikkosai.
Your monkey group reminds me more at Masatami than at Ikkosai.

I pulled this Masatami image off a Google search and have it next to my Ikkosai monkey troupe and I am not really seeing a Masatami likeness. The hair work, necks, eyes, noses, mouths, hands, expressions are all rendered differently than my group. I see all but the expressions as so similar to the Klaus group with the octopus. I see with Klaus's and mine a striking similarity in the bottom, the leg with the signature as the natural himotoshi are rendered so closely on both.
