Hi Edward,

Why did you post it in tutorials where no-one will see it?

This thread looks usable for a new item although perhaps I should start a new thread?.
If anyone can help with this signature/inscription it would be appreciated.
Do I see a "calendar" and "mountain" written there?

Ichi something all the way to the left.
I haven't been able to make sense of most of it.

These are often quotations from the classics. The name on the left could be the poet? It looks like it could be Issei 一生 (or Issai 一斉 , Ichigyoku 一玉) For Ichigyoku compare with p.499 Lazarnick, top right.
The quotation contains the characters 牡丹 (Botan) for peony, so it would appear that the scene depicted is to illustrate the poem, or vice versa? (Just guessing without further research)
