Judy, it's good to know that the disease is over.

School allocations are always a speculation on unsigned pieces.
Especially at schools that are a day trip away from each other and the motive was carved, what the customers wanted.
Another tiny (kids) netsuke.
3.6 x 2.4 x 1.5 cm and only 8.2 grams.
My speculation: Osoto-school (Osaka-Kyoto)

Glad you're better, Judy. I love your little pup. Mine is indeed porcelain. I'll post some more photos in the ceramic netsuke section, with a few comparisons, once I get time; and will keep an eye out for one with similar hairwork for you. I've seen them occasionally.

Excellence in netsuke art don't need signature or pedigree, or age, only quality, aesthetics, beauty.

Luigi, you dog! You've been away too long. Hope all is well and this Dog Year is good to you.

Klaus, your dog has a seemingly tall stance, it is hard to envision it as a small child's netsuke. He has some power about him. I wish there was more written about this category of small netsuke. They are beautifully carved. Your dog is a great example! Do you have other small netsuke? I have a few that are in a smaller range, and I am amazed by the tiny details the carvers have accomplished on such a little piece.
Thank you Klaus and Alison, for the well wishes. It is a relief to be feeling better!

Reinhard, a great piece. I have never seen a dog mother with more than two puppies.
