Now I am wishing I had heard that lecture...

Sounds like you got a very good deal with the tiger.

I thought something seemed different about those private parts, but having never seen a tiger in heat,  I didn't think of that.  Are shunga netsuke never signed?  I don't understand why that would be the reason for no signature?  Can you explain?  Thanks.

I too noticed something different about (her) private parts, but got hung up on the signature fixation, looking at the fat area on the left rear paw and imagining enough room for a deleted signature.
Your Tiger is dead-on the same as the Bosshard one as described as Davies. Simply amazing!
I join in Judy's question as I am just getting acquainted with the mysteries of Shunga netsuke - were they never signed ?

OldKappa, could you or somebody else please elaborate on the interpretation on the quoted by you BD remark:" However, the style and carving of the tiger is almost identical to the work of Hakuryu of Kyoto. Interestingly, the characters for Godo are signed in a sosho form similar to those of Hakuryu I."?
I am not that familiar with the sosho form...

It's lovely, but the posts are all now at cross purposes in this thread. You need a dedicated thread, I wot! :)

[b:10c9i1t6]I'm asking Vlad to make a partial transfer...

Impossible to make a partial transfer from London Netsuke Symposium [url=http://forums.netsuke.org/post/show_single_post?pid=1266056771&postcount=25:10c9i1t6]Tora[/url:10c9i1t6] .

I have copied all relevant entries to there and will delete my tiger entries here in one day[/b:10c9i1t6].

Excuse my un-thoughtfulness, most of you will know how excited we are when we discover one of these [i:10c9i1t6]little fellows[/i:10c9i1t6].
