Netsuke Exhibition in Middlesbrough

Postby pjburton » Fri Aug 25, 2017 3:32 pm

Forgive me if someone has already posted this information but I see from the BM magazine that there is currently an exhibition in Middlesbrough at the Dorman Museum entitled "Dressed to impress: netsuke and Japanese men's fashion"

The items are loaned from the British Museum collection and on display until 29th October when the exhibition will move on to Bath and then to Worthing.

Hope some of you get to visit and provide us with some feedback.

Thanks Peter.

I remember going to a same named exhibition at the BM a few years back. I wonder if it's the same exhibition? If so, it did have the Masanao sleeping exhibited. I'll try and find out more.

I'll keep an eye out for the Bath one as that would be my closest, and possible in a day trip.

Hi Martyn,

I hope you are keeping well. Yes Bath would probably be easier for me as well. If you manage to locate any further details I would appreciate knowing when it's scheduled to move to Bath.

Bath would make a great day out! I found this link that gives dates: http://meaa.org.uk/event/dressed-to-imp ... ns-fashion.

Maybe we could organise a day trip? Bath is a lovely city and has great restaurants and bars?

Yes - let's do it :)

Here's my proposal - http://meaa.org.uk/event/dressed-to-imp ... ern-japan/

We can visit, handle and attend the lecture (followed by a curry). Overnight stay in a hotel as it's a Friday night event.

Last time I was in Bath I stayed in the Francis Hotel. Very modern and has a Brasserie Blanc restaurant attached. Also very central for other restaurants and lots of nice bars for evening entertainment.

That's fine with me Rob, how about you Martyn should we book as it looks like they only have a few rooms left on that date?
