Unlike HTML, however, BBCode uses square brackets [ and ] instead of angled brackets < and >. This is to help secure the forum from malicious attacks or hacking attempts. Be eliminating the ability for users to post HTML content we control the HTML instead by providing codes you can use, that translate into HTML templates we build behind the scenes.
For detailed instructions in your own language on the usage of BBCode, you can click here, or the BBCode link to the right hand of the Post Content text box.
Typing in the BBCodes is one option, but to save you remembering them you will see the associated buttons encircled in green in the following image.
Please note that we have the option to add new and custom BBCodes, so others are available to you which are not on this list. These are explained in there own tutorials.
Typing these codes into a post will translate them. To help support users, or for the purpose of us showing what will appears in your Post Content box, we use the Code button to stop the site translating them as a literal.

You then can proceed to click on the i button shown in red in the next image. On clicking this button you will notice that the BBCode tags wrap around the text you highlighted.
