Please make sure to read the FAQ before proceeding.

If you have any questions on how to use this site please first visit the tutorial section before contacting the Modteam with any questions.

Any individuals with an interest in this Japanese art form are openly invited to participate within these forums. We recognise that a beginning collector, or any individual visiting with one off request(s) for information, are unable to provide much back to the community in return. In such cases it is considered good practise to leave a quick note of courtesy for those experienced members who share time in reply.

The opinions expressed on this Forum are not the opinions, endorsements, positions and/or statements of the International Netsuke Society, Euronetsuke or the CIS and are offered here only for educational purposes, to facilitate further scholarship, study, investigation and debate, and, most of all, to promote the enjoyment of netsuke, sagemono and other related art forms.

Your entry into the netsuke and sagemono lounge constitutes your agreement to be bound by and comply with the following Code of Conduct. Failure to comply may be cause for the removal of posts and/or banning an individual from the Forum.

Our Code of Conduct:

  1. Commercial Use Prohibited Purchase, sale and/or solicitation are not permitted - See, the “Dealer” tab on this website for a list of Dealers who are known to the Society and who pay to advertise and to support the Society.

  2. Content This Forum is devoted to the study of netsuke and related arts. THINK BEFORE YOU POST!

    1. Unrelated, offensive or inflammatory content is inappropriate and will be removed. Offensive language is not permitted.

    2. Ad hominem remarks (those against a person) are inappropriate. Confine personal conversations to “Private Messaging”. Any breach of this request will instigate the following process;

      1. First breach - The Mod team will edit out any Ad Hominem comments and place a public note against the offending post reminding the member of the rules. [The warning will be recorded against the account for a period of 90 days]

      2. Second breach - Within the 90 day period of the first warning, will cause a 24 hour suspension of the offending account.

      3. Third breach - Within the 90 day period of the first warning, will cause the offending account to receive a lifetime ban.
    3. Every member has a facility to edit their historical content. This facility has been provided on the understanding members may wish to delete images of items later sold, or to remove unreasonable comments made in the heat of a moment. This being said, the Modteam has a responsibility to protect the integrity of this community as the whole. Accordingly every member is asked to be mindful of the potential impact significant personal edits may impose upon the readability of what remains. Any attempts by a single member deemed malicious, or significantly disruptive, to the integrity of the content, will incur a lifetime account ban.

    4. Candid, relevant, vigorous debate is encouraged. However, remember that the Forum content is searchable and permanent. A particular piece of art is or may be owned by a member of our community. BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU WRITE!
  3. Threads All threads and posts receive equal treatment. Confine remarks to the subject matter of the thread. Start new threads in appropriately named and themed Forums.

  4. Photographs Photographs and other pictorial representations are often copyrighted and may not be used without consent. If you wish to re-share images taken from this site, elsewhere in the public domain, please first contact the owner to request permission.

Enjoy your visit :D
