At the Contemporary Carvers Event I will show a few new works. One of them is this boxwood carving of seven dung beetles.

Hi Leon, I look forward to seeing and handling your work. What are the inlays made from?

Fascinating Leon. What inspired you to carve a dung ball?

I look forward to meeting Wednesday, and the opportunity to handle some of your work.

I also look forward to seeing your work, Leon. Seems I've seen a dung beetle carving before and think it was by a contemporary carver a couple decades ago.

Thanks guys.

This dung is with golds and silver, so maybe it's not dung at all. Who knows.

Alan, I think you saw a Akihide work. Incredibly skilled and very talented.

Did you mean these delicious beetles from box-wood? Indeed, very delicate, elegant work! Subtle paws and so much attention to detail, so meticulously done! Staggering work! I also like to pay attention to the smallest details! Bravo Akihide-san!!!
Does anybody know what size of Akihide's beetles?

Great carving skills indeed but unfortunately like some other "netsuke" that sacrifice structural strength for impressive delicacy.. some of Akihide's beetles just don't last that long. :(
