looks to be a handle that would attach to a cord for window blinds. There was a huge wave of Japanese art style objects being incorporated into modern decorations for homes. Carved monkey turned into netsuke ?

I picked up this hardwood carving of a monkey and a peach or peach nut. It has a nice dark patina on it. On the back of the neck it looks like someone had added holes later in its time to make this carving figure into a netsuke like object. I realized this by the loss of the patina around the holes,...

thanks so much for the replies there is some yellowing the camrea did not pick up with the light but no stress cracks like you see in earlier sculptures. My guess now is early 20th C
