Re: Bamboo Pipe Case

Thanks Piers!

You are reliable as the "humble" Clock in Greenwich :) :) :)
I'm always enjoying reading your informative comments.
I've added some accessories to the case, but my pipe is the wrong size.
Pipes have been used for a very long time - how old could this one be?

Bamboo Pipe Case

This is I belive a everyday use pipe case. Its hollow and ca 2,5 cms wide, 21 cms long. Made of bamboo.
Back is plain and front carved with a fish and some sea grass. The case have a nice patina and a black inside.
I like to hear some opinion on this item.

Re: Three in a Leaf

Curt, I put my neck on line again.... As you say, nice but u. beep .y, but interesting design. The ivory seems aged (or treated old?). A crude carving, maybe made by someone learning carving technique. Interesting as the men seems to grow from the bottom. Inspired by "Three Men in a Boat",...

Curt

I belive that you are abolutely right.
A reflektion, have you seen many signatures under the foot on original pieces? I think most signatures are close to the himotoshi or more visible not ”hidden”. All famous signatures seems to be red alert and demands expert consultation.
