Re: 2018 drawer

Oh well, early in 2018 I did not manage to catch a worm as yet... For the time being, a toad and a tiger to open the new drawer: 38069A87-7C0A-4C5F-8735-DB912EB1A543.jpeg 89161DF0-5296-4569-AB41-6866AC5EAF06.jpeg 448141C2-7FF0-4269-896B-AE747AB6CE1D.jpeg FA802857-FBE3-41D3-B985-7613892DE962.jpeg AC1...

Re: Van Ham - The handling session

All three were out of my reach, for another reason, Judy ;) But, as Martyn put it not so long ago, the experience of handling all these beautiful pieces is invaluable... The hammer prices (to which one has to add 28%) were: - The horse: EUR 15,000 - The Kaygyokusai boar: EUR 14,000 - The Goho turtle...

Re: The Grind

With the age, I am becoming slightly better with netsuke, and a lot worse in squash.

Up to a few years ago, I had this saying: Winning is not the most important thing... It is the only thing ! By now I skipped the second part :(

Re: Manju - karako with drum

Thank you, Piers and Martyn for the nice and helpful comments ! Having looked in my books at more manjus by Dosho and Hojitsu, I agree with you, Martyn. In fact these two Kishosai manjus are actually copies of the Hojitsu ones, with very few changes. I would not call them only 'close to' ;). I do li...
