Re: Chon's Reflections

On the 15th of May I was at an antiques fair and found two quite good Netsuke buried among the drawers of discarded old objects and later fakes. It is somewhat like sitting on the beach sifting through millions of pebbles. As a child I delighted in finding a fossil, a rare Iona stone, a carnelian a...

Re: Euronetsuke Fest 2018: 11th - 13th May 2018

What a weekend! I just wanted to post my thanks to all those involved in the organisation and hosting of the meeting in London. It was an excellent learning opportunity for veterans and novices alike. It was great to finally put faces to names freaquently seen contributing on the forum. The whole we...

Re: Euronetsuke Fest 2018: 11th - 13th May 2018

Re: old photo of pipe vendor

Those are really interesting pictures. A lot of the pouches and netsuke look like the cheap (ish) ones you see at many flea markets in japan today. They must have been the bread and butter of the meiji Japan while high end merchants may have specialisted in art netsuke and pipes ect. Here is a print...

They have a few publications available but they have produced a series of hard back volumes (5 or 6) now which i own a few of now. I didnt buy them all due...
