Given that the Mammoth's predominant range had been Eastern Asia, I'd be surprised if its remains weren't found and used in the earliest netsuke, albeit rarely.

It does look suspicious in the picture but it has a much better look and feel "live". There is no provenance attached to it. It also has a damaged eye on this side reducing its quality appearance. One separate, additional, question is: What is the number or percentage of times that a quali...

I'm still circling around this one.
Since none of the other options are listed (including Tokunobu, Tokushin, or Atsunobu) I kept looking.
It's missing the top two incision marks but now I'm calling him a Jishin.
Any thoughts or comments are as always appreciated.

Here's one that I bought with the signature translated as Shige. No Shige was listed in Lazarnick so I looked a little deeper, into different readings of the same kanji.
I'm going with JU on this one. Anyone disagree? Comments?
