Re: Favorite Finds of 2017

That's a very, very nice piece Martyn ! You always seem to get first pick of all the London stock, :( , teacher's pet
Can't post pieces currently, I'm in the process of doing an intensive Tokyo Museum tour interspersed with Kobe beef tasting :)

Re: Van Ham - The handling session

I assume this is the particular Dutchman Neil is referring to ...

Actually, I've handled this piece from the Dr Joe Kurstin collection

Re: Van Ham - The handling session

Dutchman .... incl commission, about 192K GBP !

Is this an international auction record for a tall figure? (apparently it sold on the net). Can anyone recall the next most expensive tall figure ..

Re: Van Ham - Wiedersehen mit einem Einhorn (A love letter to the Kirin)

I would like to ask Clive, if he was writing this catalogue, how would he date this Kirin ?

Circa ?

I note that it last sold at public auction for $88K USD in 1988

Re: Van Ham - The handling session

The last memorable piece by Goho, was the wood rat with chestnut from the Dr James Rose collection @ Bonham's New York about 4 years ago ... this achieved $48 K USD ... but is definately inferior to this turtle on show now!

Re: Van Ham - The handling session

That's very interesting Martyn.

Talking about Kirin ... this one is magnificent, but I like Klaus' Kirin a bit better (aka the "Holton Kirin"). I would appreciate if Klaus could comment sometime on the relationship of this Kirin to his & the Meinertzhagen one :)
