another boxwood mask of Okame

Good afternoon, I have found another mask of Okame, almost on a par with my similar post on this subject. 43mm tall x 36mm wide. My reading of signatures has not improved, inspite of having access to Laz's book, could this mask also be by Shugetsu or am I way off ?

Re: new purchase

Good evening, I'm disappointed that my post has not received any comments, surely someone has ideas on how to remove glue residue, without damage to the netsuke, and my difficulty reading the signature.

new purchase

Good evening, I've posted some pictures of my latest purchase, a tagua nut netsuke of a recumbent goat 4.8cms wide x 3.8cms tall. I think it is nicely carved with lovely detail, I did think it was boxwood but was assured it is tagua nut. How does one tell the difference ? The signature puzzles me, t...

Re: latest purchase

Thanks Judy, thanks for your comments on this little charmer, pity he's not free standing, whatever he is standing on is simple so he can stand. I believe if he was indeed carved by Masakazu, Piers kindly read the signature for me , then the netsuke dates from a little earlier, the meiji era. I was ...

Re: man examining wound on his leg

Many thanks for all the information about this netsuke and the pictures of other examples, I have tried to improve my photography using my Nokia 5 phone and have added one picture that I hope is better ?
